Low-traffic group for nomads, founders, and remote workers in Istanbul. Event reminders, apartment leads, restaurant recommendations, the occasional "where can I find X" question. Roughly 5–10 messages a day.

→One rule: be useful, not promotional. No "join my Telegram" or DM-me-to-invest spam.
→Mods remove off-topic content within an hour.
→If you join, please introduce yourself in 1-2 lines.

Weekly Turkish-English language swap meetup in Beyoğlu / Kadıköy cafés. Beginner-friendly, ~50 attendees per session, free.

When: Most Wednesdays or Fridays · 19:00-21:30

Where: Rotates · usually Cihangir or Moda cafés · Beyoğlu

If you want to actually learn some Turkish (not just survive on English), this is the easiest entry point. Native Turkish speakers come to practice English; you swap. Pace is conversational, no formal teaching. Pair with Duolingo for actual structure.

Weekly outdoor social meetup for digital nomads, expats, and travelers in Istanbul. Casual seaside hangout in Moda Park, Kadıköy. ~3,300-member community.

When: Every Saturday · 18:00 onwards

Where: Moda Sahil Parkı · Kadıköy

The largest English-speaking digital-nomad community in Istanbul (~3,300 members on Meetup). Low-commitment way to meet people in your first weeks. Vibe: relaxed seaside picnic, chats, occasional yoga or live music.

Smileys Sunset Sailing · monthly

Sunset sailing trip on the Marmara Sea departing from Kalamış Marina. Limited to 8 spots, hosted by Smileys Community. ~$40 USD per person.

When: 1-2 Saturdays a month · 18:30–20:30 (sunset window)

Where: Kalamış Marina · Kadıköy

Higher-commitment than the picnic — costs ~$40 and requires advance RSVP because boats cap at 8. Worth it for the experience: sunset on the Bosphorus from a small sailboat. Books out 2-3 weeks ahead in summer.

Startup Grind Istanbul · monthly founder talks

Monthly fireside chats with Turkish + international founders, hosted at Kolektif House Levent or Maslak. Part of the global Startup Grind network (600+ cities).

When: Last Thursday of the month · 18:30–21:00 (varies)

Where: Kolektif House Levent / Maslak · Levent

The default founder-meetup in Istanbul. Real founders telling real stories — past speakers include Tarkan Anlar (Scotty), Çağlar Yalı (Kolay İK), Rina Onur Şirinoğlu (500 Startups). RSVP early; events fill fast for high-profile speakers.

Take Off Istanbul 2026 · annual startup conference

Turkey's largest international startup + investor conference. 2-day program at Volkswagen Arena Maslak. Past editions: 5,000+ attendees, 200+ investors, 100+ speakers.

When: Annually · usually mid-October (date confirmed closer to event)

Where: Volkswagen Arena · Maslak

The major Turkish startup-conference event — government-backed (Erdoğan and ministers attend), pulls international VCs, structured pitch competitions. Worth attending once if you're building a company in Turkey or considering it. Less useful for pure remote nomads not building anything fundable.

We curate — not every submission gets listed. We prioritize: real recurring events, English-friendly, free or sub-$30, and aligned with the nomad/founder/remote-worker audience. We won't list MLM pitches, religious recruitment, or anything off-topic.
