Privacy Policy

Nomad Istanbul provides editorial content for foreigners living in Istanbul. This page explains what personal data we collect through this website, how we use it, and your rights — with an emphasis on the EU/UK GDPR and Turkish KVKK.

If you only read one paragraph:

We collect what you type into our newsletter form (just your email), plus standard analytics about how you reached the site. We use this only to send you the content you signed up for. We don't sell your data. To delete your record, email hello@nomadistanbul.com.

1. Who is the data controller

2. What data we collect

Two categories:

A. Data you give us directly (newsletter signup):

Email address
Source: which page you signed up from (for analytics)

B. Data collected automatically:

UTM parameters from your URL (utm_source, utm_campaign, utm_content)
Country and device type, via Google Analytics 4 with anonymized IP
Standard server logs (IP, request time, page requested) retained ~30 days for security

3. How we use it

To send you the newsletter content you signed up for. Legal basis: consent + legitimate interest.
To measure which content works. Aggregate analytics only.
To improve the site. No automated decision-making affecting you.

4. Who else processes your data

Formspree — receives your newsletter signup. Privacy policy
Cloudflare Pages — static hosting and CDN. Privacy policy
Google Analytics 4 — aggregated analytics with anonymized IP. Privacy policy

5. Your rights

EU/UK/Turkey residents have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, port, withdraw consent, and complain to a DPA. Email hello@nomadistanbul.com to exercise any of these. We aim to respond within 30 days.

6. Cookies

Minimal cookies. Google Analytics 4 sets `_ga` for aggregate measurement (anonymized IP). If you want to opt out, use your browser's "Do Not Track" or install the Google Analytics opt-out.
